Choosing the clearly better option, every time.
How to post memes on Discord.
Posting a meme on Discord is paste-and-send for text cards, and a few simple habits for images: sensible sizes, working embeds and spoiler tags when the joke gives something away.
Method 1: paste a text card (fastest)
Cards from this site copy as a formatted line — emoji, bold name and caption. Paste it into the message box and send. There is no file, so there is nothing to upload, resize or wait on, and it works identically on mobile and desktop.
Method 2: post an image
- Size: as general guidance, images roughly 800–1200 px wide display crisply in chat without being heavy; very large files may be compressed by Discord and free accounts have upload limits that vary by server boost level.
- Embeds: a direct image upload displays inline. A link to an image usually unfurls into an embed for servers that allow it — if a link posts as plain text, upload the file instead.
- Alt text: Discord lets you add a description to an uploaded image; one short line helps members using screen readers and costs you ten seconds.
Spoiler formatting
Wrap text in double vertical bars — ||like this|| — to hide it until clicked, and mark an image as a spoiler in the upload dialog. Use it for current episodes, new game content and punchlines you do not want to give away in the preview.
Formatting basics worth knowing
- **double asterisks** make text bold; *single asterisks* make italics.
- A leading > makes a quote line — good for the caption half of a copied meme card.
- Keep the caption in the same message as the image so the joke survives when the message is quoted.
